There is something special about the love a daddy has for his daughters. And on this special day, nothing could be truer.
Dad contacted me with one special request; he wanted a special shoot for his girls. He wanted them to have a special session that was all about them. A session were they felt as special as they are.
It was a photographer dream of a day. Not cold and not hot. The sun was bright but tucked away, the tie was low and gave away for us to be able to enjoy a beautiful location. As I photographed it quickly became apparent that I was being invited to capture sweet moments of love between Daddy and his girls. Imani, Kumerra, Kumya all share such sweet joyed to be photographed with dad. I would place my camera down for seconds as if to check settings and would look up quickly to find them laughing or sharing a little inside joke. Or perhaps a tender kiss, tickle, or daddy joke that made his girls smile and give him the ‘Oh, dad’ look.
As parents, we often find ourselves behind the lens. We capture precious moments, milestones, celebrations and the only trace of us being apart of the memory is that we know we were the person that captured it. This day was different this day dad decided that he reluctantly would be part of the memory with his daughters. I only say reluctantly because he really wanted this session to be about them but realizing he should also play a small part in the day.
If you ask me which sessions are my favorite to photograph it is easy. My favorite portraits to photograph are the ones parents jump in with children. They are the ones that mom and dad decided they will be apart of. They are the ones where parents find themselves realizing how important it is for them to be apart of the moment.
Cory, Imani, Kumerra and little Miss Kumya I had such a great time photographing you. Your grace, love for each other, and enthusiastic energy made a world of a difference. Little ladies, you are all natural … may I even say you are Pros! Cory, thank you for trusting me to photograph your little girls. What a sweet privilege it was to capture this special time. You and your girls were such dream to work with. Your ease and willingness to be photographed entrusting me knowing that I had your best interest made all the difference.
An early Happy Father’s Day to you Cory may you get to share it with the love and joy that are your children.
Big hugs,
Kimberly (KC)
